DESCRIPTION OF THE ARCHITECTURE
The reference architecture for the towns reached by the new secondary FiberCop fibre network according to the coverage plan envisages the possibility for the operator to link with the roadside presence points in optic cabinets (also called CRO or Fibre Optic Cross Connect Cabinet) from which the secondary FTTH network branches out to the property units.
The reference architecture is characterised by the following network elements:
- Delivery point of the Semi-GPON on entry port of the optic cabinet;
- Optic Cabinet (CRO) where the primary network of the operators interested and FiberCop’s secondary FTTH network connect. Inside the CRO there are (primary and secondary) splitters that make it possible to connect several secondary network fibres to a single primary network cable in which the passive optic splitters are positioned;
- An overall splitting factor for each individual primary fibre equal to 1:64, obtained with 2 levels of splitting: 1:4 primary and 1:16 secondary, both positioned in the optic cabinet;
- Secondary point-to-point optical network from the optic cabinet to the client’s location;
- Termination Point in the Building (PTE);
Vertical section of the secondary network (so called termination segment) that reaches the client’s location (optical connection) from the PTE.
In the case of the towns with FTTH already developed before the establishment of FiberCop (infrastructures developed by the company Flash Fiber, whose ownership was purchased by FiberCop), the reference architecture of the Semi-GPON network envisages a splitting distributed along the secondary network (thus not concentrated inside the CRO, as seen above); the first level of splitting occurs at the CNO (Optic Node Centre) and a second level at the PTE, for an overall ratio still equal to 1:64.
