- Browsing and Device Data
The computer systems and software procedures used to operate this Site acquire some technical information during normal operation, including: IP address; domain names of the computers used by users who connect to the Site; the identifier, brand, model, and other parameters of the operating system of the device; the code indicating the response status from the server; the type of browser; the identifier of the individual session with start and end times of the browsing session; any account identifier and activities performed on the Site, etc.
This information is used to ensure the correct functioning of the Site, for statistical purposes, and, with prior consent, for profiling purposes (if provided). This information is stored for no longer than necessary to achieve the purposes for which it was collected or subsequently processed, as well as for the period required by law for administrative purposes, managing any complaints/disputes, investigating possible cybercrimes against the Site, or criminal proceedings.
Additionally, in the event of accessing the authenticated area of the Site, FiberCop S.p.A. will retain the user’s personal data, including those concerning logs recording access to and activity in the authenticated area of the Site, for the same purposes and time periods.
No data from the web service will be disseminated.
- Cookies
2.1 General Information on Cookies
Cookies are small text files that websites visited by users send to their devices (usually to a browser or smartphone), where they are stored to be retransmitted to those sites on each subsequent visit using the same device. Additionally, each site may allow the transmission of so-called “third-party cookies,” i.e., those generated by websites other than the one the user is visiting (by way of objects present on the site such as banners, images, maps, sounds, specific links to web pages of other domains).
Based on their duration, these are separated into session cookies (i.e., temporary cookies that are automatically deleted from the terminal at the end of the browsing session by closing the browser) and persistent cookies (i.e., those that remain stored on the terminal until they expire or are deleted by the user).
Cookies have various purposes. They are primarily used to provide the communication or deliver the service requested by the user; more specifically, they enable and optimize the functioning of the website, perform electronic authentication and prevent abuse, monitor sessions, and improve the user’s browsing experience, for instance, by keeping the connection to reserved areas active while the user navigates the pages of the site without requiring the User-ID and password to be re-entered, and by storing specific information regarding the users themselves (including preferences, and browser and computer type used). They can also be used (anonymously, in the case of third-party cookies) to perform aggregate analyses on the site’s functioning, the number of users, and how they visit the site. These are referred to as “technical” cookies (the user’s consent is not required for their use), as without them, some of the aforementioned operations could not be performed or would be more complex and/or less secure.
Conversely, if cookies are used for additional purposes, typically for (i) behavior analysis, potentially also by tracking the authenticated user using different devices, and sending personalized promotional messages (so-called “profiling cookies”) and/or (ii) obtaining aggregated statistics on the number of users and how they visit the site (so-called “analytics cookies”), user consent is required (unless the third-party analytics cookies have been anonymized). Indeed, before these types of cookies are sent to the terminal, under current legislation, when accessing the home page or another page of the site, a banner with a brief notice on the use of cookies and the consent request is immediately prominently displayed; consent can be provided (by clicking the “accept” button) or withheld (by clicking for instance on the “X” or “Continue without accepting” button at the top right of the banner) by the user. Alternatively, the user can click on the preference management panel (also known as CMP – Cookie-Consent Management Platform) to specifically set consent preferences based on the desired cookies.
In any case, cookies can only be read or modified by the website that generated them; they cannot be used to retrieve any data from the user’s terminal and cannot transmit computer viruses. Some cookie functions can also be performed by other technologies; therefore, in the context of this web privacy policy, the term “cookie” refers to cookies and all similar technologies.
2.2 Use of First-Party Cookies on this Site
This Site may use session cookies and persistent cookies.
The types of first-party cookies generated and transmitted by this Site are:
- Technical cookies, used for: a) authentication and management of a browsing session (e.g., to identify and validate the user for the purposes of accessing the Reserved Area); b) security purposes (e.g., to track the number of failed logins, identifying potential instances of authentication abuse and preventing fraud); c) customization of the user interface (e.g., to record user preferences such as language, currency, page display format, connection area); d) better usability of the site and its audiovisual content; e) proper functioning of the connection (e.g., appropriately directing the user’s requests among multiple servers).
2.3 Analytics Cookies Provided by Third Parties
FiberCop S.p.A. does not use web measurement services provided by third parties to collect aggregated/statistical information on the number of users and how they visit this Site.
2.4 Third-Party Cookies
This Site does not allow the transmission of third-party cookies to the user’s device.
2.5 Managing Cookie Preferences
Cookies can be managed by the user through their browser.
A) Browser Settings
Users/visitors can manage their cookie preferences using the functionality available in common browsers (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari), which allow them to delete/remove (all or some) cookies, or change browser settings to block the sending of cookies or limit it to specific sites (to the exclusion of others). Information on how to configure browser settings (usually accessible via the “Tools” bar) can be found on the browser providers’ “Support” pages (and can also be found using a common search engine).
Disabling cookies does not in itself prevent the use of services provided by the Site; however, if all cookies, including technical cookies, are deleted/blocked, some operations may not be performed or may be more complex and/or less secure, such as activities within the Reserved Areas of the Site (indeed, cookies make it possible to perform and maintain user identification during the session).
- Data Provided Voluntarily by Users/Visitors
If, when visiting this site, users/visitors provide their personal data in order to access certain services, or to make requests by email or via web forms, this will result in FiberCop S.p.A. acquiring the sender’s address and/or potentially other personal data, which will be processed solely for the purposes of responding to the request, or to provide the service.
The personal data provided by users/visitors will be communicated to third parties only if the communication is necessary to satisfy the users/visitors’ requests.
Processing Methods
Processing is carried out using IT and telematic tools and/or manually, for the time strictly necessary to achieve the purposes for which the data were collected and, in any case, in compliance with current regulatory provisions.
Optional Provision of Data
Except as specifically indicated regarding browsing data, users/visitors are free to provide their personal data. The only consequence of failure to provide such data is that it may not be possible to satisfy the request.
