FiberCop is starting in Gessate the innovative cabling plan that will bring fiber to the homes. The interventions for the realization of the new network worth 500 thousand euros, coordinated by TIM, will begin shortly in many areas of the city and the agreement signed with the municipal administration provides that the services will be made available progressively. The objective is to connect around 2,000 housing units at the conclusion of the plan.
The town in Lombardy has been included in the national FiberCop coverage program, which aims to implement the secondary fiber access network in the black and gray areas of the country to develop FTTH (Fiber To The Home) solutions. The adopted model of ‘open’ co-investment provided by the new European Code of Electronic Communications, guarantees to all operators access to passive fiber optic services and advanced services, operating with maximum efficiency to protect people and the environment.
The works in Gessate will be carried out in partnership with the municipal administration. To limit the discomfort to citizens and proceed quickly with the implementation of the new network will be used, where possible, existing infrastructure, while the new excavations will be made by adopting innovative techniques with low environmental impact, with interventions on the roadway of about 10-15 centimeters.
The new super-fast network will accelerate the processes of digitalization in the area, to the benefit of citizens, businesses and public administration and to support the best professional needs also related to smart working and distance learning; it will go from 200 megabits of the current network in FttCab technology that already covers 3000 units of the municipality, to ultra-fast connections up to 1 Gigabit/s. “I am very pleased with this ambitious project that will give an important boost to the territory, residents and businesses – said Lucia Mantegazza, Mayor of Gessate -. Thanks to the choice of FiberCop to include us in their development plan, even in our municipality will be possible to make more efficient and quality digital connections between people. A fundamental step on which the administration is committed daily not only to connect homes to ultra-fast fiber optics but also to grow in terms of innovation, economy, sociality, quality of life and creation of a network of values”.
