The town in Lombardy has been included in FiberCop’s national FTTH technology cabling plan to make available connections up to 1 Gigabit/s. Works will begin soon in many areas of the city and will affect 3,900 housing units.
Concorezzo, July 30th, 2021
FiberCop is starting in Concorezzo the innovative cabling plan that will bring fiber optics to homes. The interventions for the implementation of the new network worth about 1.5 million euros, coordinated by TIM, will begin shortly in many areas of the city and the agreement signed with the municipal administration provides that the services will be made progressively available. The objective is to connect around 3,900 housing units at the conclusion of the plan.
The town in Lombardy has been included in the national FiberCop coverage program, which aims to implement the secondary fiber access network in the black and gray areas of the country to develop FTTH (Fiber To The Home) solutions. The adopted model of ‘open’ co-investment provided by the new European Code of Electronic Communications, guarantees to all operators access to passive fiber optic services and advanced services, operating with maximum efficiency to protect people and the environment.
The works in Concorezzo will be carried out in partnership with the municipal administration. To limit the inconvenience to citizens and proceed quickly with the implementation of the new network will be used, where possible, existing infrastructure, while the new excavations will be made by adopting innovative techniques with low environmental impact, with interventions on the roadway of about 10-15 centimeters.
The new super-fast network will accelerate the processes of digitalization in the area, to the benefit of citizens, businesses and public administration and to better meet the professional needs also related to smart working and distance learning; it will go from 200 megabits of the current network in FttCab technology that already covers 5,800 units of the municipality, to ultra-fast connections up to 1 Gigabit/s.
“We are certainly pleased with the start of this important operation of cabling of our city that is taking off and will be completed by the end of 2023 – says the Mayor of the City of Concorezzo, Mauro Capitanio -. The arrival of ultra-fast fiber optics throughout the municipality is in fact a step forward for both individuals and businesses and schools. This pandemic has brought out, in a clear way, the need to have adequate infrastructure to work or study even from home and to implement the digitization of businesses. This project is the answer to the request for strengthening the network coverage of our city, a project that has the highest priority for us. It is obviously also a fundamental step, preparatory to the activities related to the ministerial initiative Borgo del Futuro and, in particular, those related to smart mobility”.
